buildingSMART Canada (bSC) is a Canadian federally incorporated Not-for-Profit Corporation. A Chapter of buildingSMART International, bSC represents the standards body in Canada driving the transformation of the built asset economy through the creation & adoption of international open standards for BIM. bSC holds the vision of a productive and competitive Canadian built environment economy enabled through interoperable data, that supports collaborative, consistent and efficient asset delivery and management practices. The organization’s mission is to lead and facilitate the adoption and implementation of open standards for the digitalization of Canada’s Built Environment in a way, and at a pace that enables stakeholders to understand their roles and responsibilities and to assess their capacity to participate in this process.
bSC Initiative members are companies and organizations wishing to support the principle of the adoption of BIM in the digitalization of the built asset industry in Canada. bSC Industry Members are companies or organizations interested in supporting openBIM and the activities of bSC.
bSC Industry Council members are Government, Associations and Industry stakeholders interested in driving the adoption of BIM in the built asset industry through active support / participation in real-world project collaboration and supporting openBIM and the activities of bSC.
bSC Strategic Membership involves is an organization interested in supporting and advocating the goals and objectives of bSC in driving the adoption of BIM and openBIM standards in the digitalization of the built asset industry in Canada of bSC and connected to achieve bSC goals.
A bSC Partnership is an opportunity where the relationship is ongoing and tightly connected to achieve mutually beneficial goals outlined in a memorandum of understanding between the organizations.
bSC individual members are interested on being informed on the development of BIM and participating in a professional association offering opportunity to gain knowledge and engage BIM domain expertise through support of the organization and supporting openBIM and bSC activities.
Volunteer members wish to contribute their time to support the goals and objectives of bSC. Volunteer members serve on operational boards within bSC on an annual basis. bSC Volunteers participate in ongoing bSC operations continually.
