The Professional Certification Program by bSC supports openBIM® training standardization, promotes international standards and best practices, and raises awareness about buildingSMART and its solutions.
The Entry level introduces open standards and openBIM concepts in a simple, clear and straightforward matter. It is aimed at working professionals and students in the built asset industry who have little or no experience with BIM.
This program offers free online educational resources (self-paced training) and a free 5-question online exam managed on this website.
This exam will be launched in 2024.
The Foundation level addresses the needs of individuals operating at a basic level. The training helps building owners, designers, consultants, builders and project managers understand the opportunities collaboration within a virtual, openBIM environment offers.
Upon successful completion of the training, the participant can undertake the online exam to become buildingSMART qualified.

Management level is aimed at industry professionals involved in the management of digitally empowered projects. It provides fundamental knowledge and insight at strategic and operative levels, without descending into technical detail.

Yes. Upon successfully passing the exam, the candidate will be issued with a digital certificate and a digital badge.
For Entry Level, you will receive a digital badge only.

Foundation: buildingSMART Level 1 Qualified Professional (bS-QP-1)
Management: buildingSMART Level 2 Qualified Professional bS-QP-2)
Practitioner: buildingSMART Level 2 Certified Professional (bS-CP-2)
After you have completed the course and paid the exam fee, your provider will schedule your exam.
You have 2 exam attempts (1 initial exam, 1 re-exam). Re-exam fee applies. If you fail the re-exam, you must re-take the training course again. Contact your provider for more information.
For Entry Level, you will have unlimited access to the exam and you must wait 24 hours before retaking the exam.
There is no need to renew the Certificates for the Foundation and Management levels and there is no expiry date. Requalification may apply for the Practitioner level. Please check our website for more details.
There is no restriction on where the online exam is taken, however, some providers may require the exam be undertaken in training centres. Contact your local provider for more information.
