Affiliates
Connecting Canada’s BIM communities, buildingSMART Canada’s has launched its Affiliate program connects local and regional interest groups across Canada which support innovative project delivery practices based on open standards for BIM in the Canadian AECOO community. This initiative is aimed at building and strengthening the Canadian community of excellence for a better built environment. Any individual, local, or regional organization supporting better practices and better outcomes for the building industry can join as a buildingSMART Canada Affiliate.
The Affiliate program is founded on four key principles:
Leadership: The affiliate committees are leaders and inspire leadership within their local BIM communities
Unity: Affiliates unite their local BIM communities around a common goal; to support innovative project delivery practices based on open standards for BIM in the Canadian AECOO community
Support: The affiliates support buildingSMART Canada and is reciprocated to the affiliates. In addition the affiliate committees support each other and their communities which is also reciprocated
Identity: Although we are all one country each region has local differences, such as bylaws, geography, climate, culture, and rates of adoption that vary which are understood and addressed at a regional level
Why become a buildingSMART Canada Affiliate Member?

- – Have input into the development of Canadian and international standards
- – Meet and learn from other local affiliate members who share the same goals and expertise
- – Get support from experts engaged with the national body for your projects and to grow and develop your organization
